Independent research on Rapamycin. Our sister publication Peptides Uncaged maintains a plain-English research guide covering mechanism, the published literature, and how vendors are scored on purity and COA transparency. It is written independently of any lab. How to read a COA is worth ten minutes before your first order.
The research

What Rapamycin is being studied for

Traditionally Rapamycin was used as a type of anti fungal antibiotic produced by steptomyces hygroscopicus. Currently it is being used in the prevention of transplant rejection because of its immunosuppressive effect. The immunosuppressive effect of Rapamycin is exerted by inhibiting the activation and proliferation of T cells.

Rapamycin binds to FK-binding protein 12 (FKBP12) and forms the Rapamycin-FKBP12 complex, which regulates an enzyme that plays an important role in the progression of the cell cycle. At anti-aging doses, Rapamycin eliminates hyperimmunity rather than suppresses immunity or, more figuratively, it “rejuvenates immunity”. This enables Rapamycin and everolimus, a Rapamycin analog, to act as immunostimulators, improving immunity in cancer patients and the elderly.

For example, rapamycin reduces the risk of CMV infection in organ transplant patients, improves antipathogen and anticancer immunity in mice, prolongs lifespan in infection-prone mice and protects aged mice against pneumonia. Rapamycin also inhibits viral replication. BOTTLE DESIGN MAY VARY RAPAMYCIN (SIROLIMUS) COA.

Common questions

Rapamycin — FAQ

What is Rapamycin?

mTOR inhibitor and the single most-studied longevity compound in the literature. 2.5mg and 5mg capsules.

What formats does Rapamycin come in?

Prime Bio Group supplies Rapamycin as capsules. Available options: 2.5mg (30 capsules) at $100; 5mg (30 capsules) at $150.

Is there a certificate of analysis for Rapamycin?

Yes. Prime Bio Group is a physician-owned lab and provides a certificate of analysis on every batch. A COA reports identity by mass spectrometry and purity by HPLC — if you are not sure how to read one, our guide on reading a certificate of analysis walks through it line by line.
